Kant Russian State University, once called a Kaliningrad State University (1967-2005), is a university in the Russian city of Kaliningrad. A university maintains a traditions of the Königsberg Albertina University (1544-1945), and per se may exist as considered to be a oldest university in the Russian Federation.
Albertina University was opened around Królewiec (Königsberg) in 1544 by Albrecht of Brandenburg, first duke of the Protestant Prussia, as a Lutheran counterpart to the Roman Catholic Jagiellonian University of Krakow. It was a 2nd oldest university inside Brandenburg-Prussia & comprised four colleges - of theology, of medicine, of philosophy, and of law. Its 1st minister was 36-season-old poet Georg Sabinus, son--within-relative-in-law of Philipp Melanchthon. In the 17th century, the university was referred to as a page to Simon Dach and his fellow poets.
